TransmutationN.J. writes: I saw much confusion in the members about their expectations regarding transmutation. What has been your experience in this field? What did you expect as a result of your transmutational efforts--if any? What do you think actually resulted? Has your experience caused you to examine this question before? How would you advise new students regarding their attitude about transmutation? ________________________________ In my experience, I have found that transmutation comes from "getting what I want". My expectations (which are Images and desires really) have been altered by this same fact. I want something, I go out and get it, and the results that I taste cause me to refine/alter my desires. For a new student I would let them know that if they wish to accelerate their "transmutation", then they should go after what they want. From A.D.: " The drive to evolve is the drive of God's will. It was not evil which led us from the Garden of Eden, but God's desire for us to eat of the fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.., that we experience the pairs of opposites and through our experiences become wiser, until finally we are God's conscious mediating principles in the world. JC I recently saw a common misunderstanding expressed in a post--one that I used to have. I used to think that once anyone had transmuted a pattern, say like jealousy, one was never bothered with that feeling again. As i continued being "bothered' by undesirable patterns, my conclusion was that i was a failure at transmutation. Funny, but that seeming failure became a bond with other of my failing fellow students. One of Ann's statements was that we thought everything we felt was from ourselves when it was only about 10% ours and 90% mass mind. a guilt reducing concept. In one of Master R's communications to Ann, Paul and Harriet, he said that "when They were working on the physical plane in a body made of physical substance, they had to be alert to the mass mind patterns of separative attitudes that was so pervasive in the very substance of this plane. They felt the hate, etc., became aware of them, resolved them mentally, and did not allow expression of them." With us, the habit of negative feeling and automatic negative response is gradually diminished through alert awareness, but as long as we are in a physical body, we are susceptible to those mass feelings--we WILL feel them. It is through unawareness that they gain ingress to our consciousness and tend to demand expression. Understanding of Who is the Doer is the solution--giving assent to the existence of the feelings (non resistance) and a choice to express or not express. Awareness permits choice. The substance of MR's statement is that with transmutation the undesirables do not forever disappear but become conscious and controllable rather than unconsciously felt and expressed. It is consciousness that has been transmuted--not the pattern. Through the process of expanding consciousness, giving understanding, our need to express separative feeling of anger, resentment, jealousy, etc. is diminished, which affects the whole. Comments, anyone? Joseph ________________________________
