Resist Not EvilTo me, "Resist not Evil" means: Don't react to the mask, but face it squarely until we can discern the face of the beloved behind the mask. Only then can we respond to the essence instead of the outer form. Of course, before we can learn to discern the "essence" out there, we've first got to learn to see it within ourselves. Thus the obvious parallels (similarities and contrasts) between K15 and K6. So when I see "Evil" out there and I'm tempted to draw my sword, I should first apply the sword to myself! Ouch. Better that than falling on my sword thinking that "the other" is separate from me and thus should be attacked for appearing "bad" or "evil". Gonna bleed either way. The hard part is getting the (little) ego to let go of the sword. Or it is written somewhere "he who lives by the sword, dies by the sword"? I think knowing how to properly face "evil" has to do with knowing the proper way to wield the Sword. JC
