The Power of Suggestion

23 Jul 2001

In your opinion, what does it take for your suggestions to sub consciousness to manifest?

1. Unconditional conviction that the suggestion is all it takes?
2. Repeated suggestions are even better?
3. Do prayers help? They sure get trotted out for healing.
4. Do physical actions help as if suggestions were ignored in a do it myself mode?
5. Should a time limit for manifestation be set?
6. What if i change my mind? how do I cancel an impending manifestation?

No quotes, please, just YOUR opinions and WHY.

According to some schools of thought, the practice of Magic simply consists of the elaborate presentation of a potent multi-sensory symbol to subconsciousness.

I have found both the introverted means of meditation upon symbolic images and the extroverted practice of magical ceremony to be effective means of delivering suggestions to the subconscious mind. As far as the manifestation is concerned, this process is carried out by the subconscious, and hence it is not consciously determined. In my experience we must simply make sure that the delivery of the suggestion was as effective as possible and then leave it up to the subconscious to carry out its work.

Further attempts to consciously fortify or facilitate the manifestation or "result" can actually impede the intended effect. I suppose my idea in this respect falls into your first category, i.e. "Unconditional conviction." We interfere with this conviction when entertaining doubts about the efficacy of the rite. It is best to simple perform the ritual or meditation and then be done with it.

1. Unconditional conviction that the suggestion is all it takes?

Rey:
I would have to say that of the possible variables that you list, this to me is the most accurate. Planting that Seed with all the trust of one's heart, will launch a perfect seed into the world of mind. Unconditional Conviction also goes by the title of FAITH. It is pure faith to light a flame in the heart of darkness and to wake in the morning to find the Sun. <ha!>

Joseph:
2. Repeated suggestions are even better?

Rey:
Repetition of motion habitualizes the memory into the muscles and sinews of the assiatic incarnation (i.e our physicality). It is a powerful tool to re-enforce intention and to focalize the will on a specific task. However, not as necessary as FAITH, as faith seems to act subconsciously in perpetuating the cycle of success, as it relies on the very fluid whereby Will becomes self actuated... in the Subconscious Mind.

Joseph:
3. Do prayers help? They sure get trotted out for healing.

Rey:
Absolutely... as they are the very language system of FAITH.

Joseph:
6. What if i change my mind? how do I cancel an impending manifestation?

Rey:
If you change your mind, then you automatically cause your Will to fail. The only thing is motion of Will at that point, which may be significant enough to cause manifestation, at which point... too bad...so sad. Karma has its own laws, eh?

Mostly, I trust the process. I don't do much of that "creative visualization" stuff any more, although it is a useful exercise to demonstrate some occult truths. My conscious mind is much better at observing the interaction of subconsciousness and super-consciousness (Key 6) than it is at directing the show. This is a fruitful arrangement, allowing conscious participation mainly in the form of pruning initiatives which are discordant with the music of manifestation.

Here's another way of putting it:

Q: How do I get what I want?

A: Look at your current condition. How HAVE you been getting it?

The more one looks at what IS, the more one is able to move "with" THAT.
