Memo from Osama19 Nov 2001 Someone sent me this today... RL Cave Memo _______________________ Dear Red, Thanks for sending this post. It helped me to have another picture of HOW people denigrate their enemies in their minds, thereby making themselves less frightened of them. It also showed how to use humor for war propaganda. It also showed how we can make a subtle connection in a seemingly innocent way - Idiots should be warred against for their stupidity. "They deserve it" argument. Now, this was what I got out of it: how stuff like this "Yankee Doodle" crap is part of the war machine running inside people's minds, and outside them, too.. It gave me a much better perspective of just how insane our rationales are for killing or hating (or justifying our crimes by hating and deriding) others. I didn't like getting this in the mail from you at first, but then I dug deeper than my anger and found lots of riches that weren't on the surface of my reaction. And what I learned from my reaction, and all of this other stuff was underneath. It even made me angry at you at first, that you would be one of those laughing at this kind of stuff and passing it on, fueling it, and then I realized that my anger was melting into compassion for you, that perhaps you hadn't seen the pain that this kind of deriding justification for hatred and violence against others causes. It also made me see inside myself how the laughter at the ridiculous is all part of Key 15, no praise no blame. It is how we use it that is so important. That was one of the subjects in this months' Lantern from BOTA on the qliphoth. So, thank you for such an educational post, and another reminder that my Self will always take experiences and teach me what I need with them. What was unconscious is now conscious. Thus there exists the opportunity to transmute them. The Challenge now becomes: Can we really look at them deeply? On one level this is so, but on the level of appearances it is not seen to be so. The challenge then becomes to see that all events are life affirming, while at the same time we are sometimes called to step in and stop things, challenge things or question things. It requires seeing the black, the white and the grey at the same time. On the other hand, "affirming" has a positive connotation. Is it accurate to describe the activity of the Life Power in only positive terms while describing the negative as "positive with a negative face"? Suggesting that the Life Power is affirming in all its motion gives a sense of certainty that I too (an ego uncertain of success), will eventually be carried along with it, even though appearances may suggest otherwise.
