Foolishness

Foolishness

J,

Thank you for delurking.

One possible explanation why more folks don't delurk, may be that they're afraid to look foolish in comparison to all the erudite posters to this list.

But I say : Enter the Fool (and enter the pool - knowing that absurdity we call "the real world" for what it is - Spirit yet veiled )

Unless one has tried it, one can't possibly imagine the degree of liberation one feels when they no longer feel the need to posture or prop up their intellect or ego. (even if it's in some small area of their life, or in a particular laboratory forum like this list).

A Fool has nothing to fear except the desire not to appear foolish.

One thing I've learned from your post is never to engage you face to face in a verbal duel, especially if I don't agree totally with your opinion. You'd whip out your saber sword and I'd be reduced to bits and pieces on the floor. <<

M., the "solvent" dissolves all false appearances of animosity. The appearance of the "Green Knight" was only for the purpose of motivating others to grasp for the solvent. S.E. comes the closest when he writes:

What IS the solvent, Darth ? <s <<

The solvent is in the <s (the smile), for it alone (mirth) is capable of dissolving the incongruous mask (K15).

THE TRICKSTER'S CREED
When I looked into your guise,
your ego took me by surprise.
Then, I just could not resist,
I felt you needed to be diss'ed!
Now, please dear reader, don't get pissed!
For when we hold our form so dear,
we can't see clearly, out of fear.
Then where God dwells, we mistake a ghoul,
so to help us see, we needs a Fool!

communication must involve both the heart and the mind. That is, if you want communication rather than just to win and get some ego strokes. My older son is an attorney, and his goal is to win for his client with no room for heart in the arguments. (Are you a lawyer, JC?) But certainly outside of the courtroom, communication is much more than just making points for oneself <<

I am not a lawyer. I am a Fool. I'm trying very hard to be foolish so if you will all please cooperate I would greatly appreciate it.  Also, Please do not provide a primer of how to be a fool. Trust me that I know these methods, too.

Wow! Beautifully said!

I feel like the two falling characters in K16, except that I'm laughing on the way down, because I can see how it was my own foolishness that caused the whole commotion.  Perhaps this is the meaning behind the comic's "prat fall"?

S.E. :>Hmm....yes. Sounds kind of like the Trickster archetype. One moment you're expressing the truth and next you're acting like a buffoon and all for the growth of the universal tribe.  Fascinating. <<

N.J.: Your residual desire is to see the use and the wisdom behind it. Just another step on the ladder.<<

S.E.: >Yes! To see the USE and WISDOM behind it. Ah.... Pure wisdom, N.J.!

BINGO !

Nobody can be the Fool all the time--but  we try, don't we.

a fool responded:

As I see it, we do not have to 'try', because we already are. Yes, we do express the particulars of various Keys from time to time, but we always remain The Fool, though some have not realized just how Foolish they really are :-)

I've got an observation:

What happens after we recognize what fools we've been?

Do we just "get happy" with our continued foolishness?

What if we want to stop being foolish, but can't, or don't know how?

Suddenly, being "foolish" ain't so funny anymore.

I'll hopefully have more to say after I read this new book I just bought:

"The Dark Night of the Soul", by St. John of the Cross.
(subtitle: "The tears of a clown, when there's no one around")

Q: Now where does this leave you?
A: Ignoring the dark side of the fool.
