Facing Fear

Facing Fear

Lao Tse, the founder of Taoism, said, "Become aware of what you fear and you will lose your fear." Just how do you interpret that statement? N.J.

==================

Rudolf and his friends had to face their fears,

Rudolf - his fear of rejection because he was "different".

His elf friend, who felt like a square peg in a round hole, cause he wanted not to be one of Santa's elves, but instead wanted to be a dentist!

Yukon Cornelius - Always prospecting or Silver and Gold yet never finding it. At least not in mineral form :-) Yet he turned out to be a prospector of another sort - and helped guide our heroes on their journey of self discovery. Silver and Gold refer to the two currents flowing through our bodies - Moon and Sun. Perhaps his song about "Silver and Gold round every Christmas Tree" was referring to something else entirely.

And of course, before they could overcome those fears they had to face and overcome their ultimate fear:

Death (K13)

and that meant facing .....The abominable Snowman (K15) !

Recalling the story, they took on the Abominable Snowman in his lair in order to rescue their loved ones held captive and about to become the Snowman's next meal.

It was for Love that they Faced the ultimate fear of Death.

And if you know the story, you also know that by learning to face their fears, they not only saved Christmas, but also redeemed even the Abominable Snowman as well....

(Christmas Eve on the Island of Misfit Toys)

"I mean who in the world would want a Charlie in a box? - boo, hoo, hoo  :( "

Who indeed. . . . . . . . . .

"Another year, unwanted and unloved . . . "

"Wait, .. . . . .can you hear it? . . . . . . .(jingle, ... jingle. .jingle jingle...) It's SANTA ! "

Or as the wise Winged Lion King who looks after the toys on the Island might say:

The Great Work of Transmutation (Redemption) requires that we face our Fears.
