Affirmations

Brian,

Yes, I have listened to subliminals, affirmations, etc.., but I have given them all up.

Why?

Because none of them work in the long run.

Why's that, you might ask?

For the same reason that in the Western Mystery Tradition we are not given specific techniques and instructions to make things happen physically (other than the broad general outlines).  We are never told the specific things to do such as:

To get that person to love you, do these affirmations and say this or that or

use these techniques to implant suggestions in them, etc....

NOR (to use another example) do they ever tell us that to become a better salesperson (if that is our profession), then use these affirmations, or say such and such to plant suggestions in the customer's minds, etc...

Why don't they?

The goal is not getting this or that thing, but BECOMING that which we TRULY ARE. So if the teachings in the Western Mystery Tradition or any other agency were to give you powerful techniques to manifest physically without FIRST perfecting you, then you would create in accordance with your current patterns, and likely cause yourself and others painful lessons.

With regards to subliminals and affirmations, you may see some initial results (same can be said for elementary metaphysics), but ultimately you will create in accordance with Who and What you are. So after you get what you think you want, you eventually wise up and desire to change yourself so that you can start to BECOME more your true Self.

My impression of the Western Mystery Tradition  is that the first step is one of PURIFICATION.  Burning the Copper (analyzing our desires) and Making our Venus White (seeing the divine law in everything) are the initial steps.   In this the Tarot is a great help).

Yet at the same time, we must (turn our Venus again to redness and make visible coin) continue to manifest, pay the bills, go to work, find a mate, cut the lawn, etc... As we change ourselves, and purify our desires, what we manifest in these other areas (and all areas of our life) will hopefully be more in harmony with the cycles of creation like in K19.

To make visible coin, one must act on their desires.   If the images you hold are not giving you the feeling of desire sufficient to prompt you to action, then that means that your images are too vague. Only Specific concrete imagery (K3) has the power to move the emotions and thus move us to action.
