The
Occluded Movie Critic
Using the
Archetypal energy symbolized in the Tarot, we Incinerate (analyze) pop
culture to ashes, and then from those
ashes rise up a fiery phoenix - an
integrated view of how to use this elixir in our
daily lives in order to forge a
more harmonious vehicle. This is the essence of transmutation.
Here is our four
step formula for movie reviews:
- Burn the
"Copper":
We Analyze the various character and plot elements of the movie, looking
for themes, motifs, character archetypes and motivations. See our Archetypal
Narrative section for an explanation of the terms used in our
analyses.
- Turn it
White:
We then relate these themes to their universal correlates. We attempt to
capture
the essence of the thing at the archetypal symbolic level using a
language which most closely approximates the reality of consciousness - the
Tarot.
- Turn it
again to Redness:
Having discovered the Universal in the particular, we'll then link these universal correlates to daily life and application.
We will attempt to show
how these universal principles are relevant to some of the issues and
problems brought out by the movie, and in our society today. The next
step is to charge
these universals with personal desire by showing how they relate
to our own challenges, wants, problems, and desires.
- Make
Visible Coin:
Finally, we intend to provide some suggestions on how to apply these themes and principles
in order to make the changes we want to our own lives.

Note:
The word "elixir" means "ash".
